Salesperson CE Requirements
All active Georgia real estate salespersons must complete 36 hours of GREC-approved continuing education every four-year renewal period. Here’s what that includes:
– 3 mandatory hours of Georgia Real Estate License Law
– 33 elective hours from any approved CE topic
First-time renewal? If you completed the required 25-hour Salesperson Post-License course during your first year of licensure, 9 of those hours count toward your 36-hour CE requirement — leaving 27 additional hours to complete before your first renewal.
Georgia Broker CE Requirements (Effective July 1, 2025)
The Georgia Real Estate Commission introduced updated CE requirements for brokers. For any broker renewal submitted on or after July 1, 2025, the 36-hour requirement now includes:
– 3 mandatory hours of Georgia Real Estate License Law (unchanged)
– 18 mandatory hours of Broker-specific CE courses covering topics such as:
-
- Training licensees
- Supervising licensees
- Reviewing brokerage agreements
- Managing a firm
– 15 elective hours from any approved CE topic
The total number of hours has not changed — it’s still 36 — but half of a broker’s CE must now focus on broker-specific responsibilities. Each Broker CE course must be at least 3 credit hours. A single course can count toward both the Broker CE and License Law requirements if it covers both topics.
Who does this apply to? All Associate Brokers, Brokers, and Qualifying Brokers renewing on or after July 1, 2025. This change does not affect Salespersons or Community Association Managers. Non-resident brokers licensed by reciprocity are also exempt.
For full details, visit the Georgia Real Estate Commission website.
Can I Retake a CE Course?
Yes. You may repeat any CE course and receive credit again, as long as at least 12 months have passed since you last completed that course. This applies regardless of your renewal cycle.

How many hours of continuing education do I need in Georgia?
All Georgia real estate licensees must complete 36 hours of GREC-approved continuing education every four years. This includes 3 mandatory hours of License Law. Brokers renewing on or after July 1, 2025 must also complete 18 hours of broker-specific CE as part of their 36 hours.
When is my Georgia real estate license renewal due?
Your license renews every 4 years on the last day of your birthday month. You can renew up to 120 days (about 4 months) early through the GREC online portal.
What happens if I miss my renewal deadline?
Your license will lapse. You’ll need to complete all required CE and pay a late fee to reinstate. Licenses expired for more than 2 years may require re-licensure.
Can I complete all my CE hours online?
Yes. Georgia places no limit on the number of CE hours that can be completed online. All of our courses are fully online and GREC-approved.
Do I need CE if I have an inactive license?
Yes. Both active and inactive licensees must complete CE to renew.
What are the new broker CE requirements?
Starting July 1, 2025, brokers must complete 18 hours of broker-specific CE courses as part of their 36-hour requirement. These courses cover topics like supervising licensees, training, brokerage agreements, and firm management.
